He smiled shyly at her over the rim of his coffee mug. There was a glimmer in her eyes that he wish he could name. It had been some time since he had been out with a beautiful woman, and he found himself feeling… rusty. But every time she smiled at him and gave him that little coy smile, he thought perhaps he was finding his charm after all.

She brushed his finger tips.

Her touch was electrifying and he worried he was grinning stupidly now.

“Should we… go somewhere… else?” she asked, flashing that smile once more and his heart skipped a beat.

He did not trust his voice, so he gave a nod.

The leaves crunched under their feet as they darted from puddle of streetlight to puddle of streetlight. Her laughter was contagious and he found himself giggling alongside her. Her hand was warm in his as she tugged along down the sidewalk. His heart hammered in his chest, and he wish he knew what she was thinking.

The house she brought him in to was a small, chic, modern farmhouse-styled ranch. She made them both a drink, stronger than coffee, as he eyed her book collection lining her living room walls. When she joined him, she slid her hand enticingly up his back, sending shivers through him. She pressed the glass with a brown liquid into his hand and smiled.

“Can I show you something?” she asked.

“Of course,” he said, deciding the night would have a better outcome if he shook his muteness.

She took his hand again; she seemed to be doing that quite frequently, he was beginning to like it. She led him to a door, that once opened, showed the way down into the basement. He followed her down, into the dark, where there was a soft glow emanating.

At the bottom, he expected her to click on another light, but she did not. Instead, she led him towards, what he presumed, was the center of the room. As they grew closer, he realized what sprawled out before them. It was an entire miniature town. He was struck by this unusual hobby. He never would have pegged her as a miniaturist, not in a million years.

She pulled him closer to the table, giving him a gentle nudge to begin examining it. He bent closer as he began to look at the tiny buildings, sipping the whiskey in his glass. It only took a moment, before he started picking out recognizable landmarks.

“Is… is this our town?” he asked, awe washing over him.

“Certainly is,” she said. “Do you want to see my favorite part?”

“Of course,” he said eagerly.

Her hand tugged him around the other side of the table, and they stopped in front of a small, chic, modern farmhouse-styled ranch. Her house. “Look in the back,” she said. He could hear the smile in her voice.

He leaned forward to look over the tiny, sloping roof. There was a small model of a man in the backyard. He appeared to be tied to something with a bag over his head.

He straightened abruptly, turning back towards her. “What-” but he was cut off as she flung a bag over his head.
