Elliot let out a disgruntled sigh. “What is there to do then?” he asked softly. He was idly twirling her moon ring around her thumb, watching as it moved through the moon phases as it went. “Will you begin contacting parents and set about closing the school for the year while the story dies down?”
Cirice could not help but visibly guffa at Elliot’s suggestion. “And just roll over and let her win? Never!”
“I think this has gone beyond merely just winning, Cirice,” Elliot pointed out patiently. “The children…”
“Oh, I know,” Cirice waved a hand, pulling her fingers free and setting her moon ring back to its original phase. “This keeps track of the werewolf phases, you know that,” she chided. “She wants the school to close down, Elliot. She wants the children’s education to be interrupted. Our lives toppled over. I know we should close the school for their safety, but I refuse to sacrifice their educations for her pride.”
Elliot’s brow creased. “You think she wants to send people looking for Hogwarts… only to find it vacant and empty? That doesn’t make any sense.”
“She wants to see that her story has had an impact on our lives. We need to show her it doesn’t.” Cirice inhaled, “That while what happened to her was quite unfortunate, measures have been made to ensure it is not repeated, and the rest of it does not matter.”
