Able also looked up interestedly. “You study Astronomy, boy?”

Elliot laughed. “No, Mr. Forge,” he began, “I teach Alchemy up at Hogwarts. I was telling your wife earlier that my father is a hobbyist astronomer, and he passed on his love of the stars to me as a boy. We used to go on astronomy-base trips, he and I.”

“Fascinating,” Able said. “And your mother was alright with him taking their young son off to Egypt?”

Elliot smiled. “It was just my father and I,” he said warmly. “Where he went, I went. And now that I’m older, where I go, he goes. He’s actually looking to rent somewhere in the nearby valley this school year.”

Cirice let out a sigh of relief, feeling the weight of the air in the cottage lightening. She took a drink of her sparkling water, smiling gratefully at Elliot. Perhaps he was right and it was time to take this out of the shadows.
