He shifted in the saddle. He knew it was wrong, the bubble of excitement that was growing inside him. Beneath him, even. But this bargain had truly been one for the ages. A Daedric Prince, making a bargain with the Emperor of Tamriel, the incorruptible Emperor of Tameriel, it had never happened before. This would be his crowning achievement.
Finally, the Emperor’s entourage rode past where he hid amongst the trees. He spurred his horse out onto the cobbled road. With a wave of his hand, the Emperor’s guards and riding partners vanished. It was a few moments before the Emperor looked around, searching for his riding companions. When he saw the rider behind him, the Emperor’s face blanched.
“Well, hello there, Uriel,” said the Daedric Prince, spurring their horse to close ranks on the Emperor.
“You,” said the Emperor coldly, accusatorily.
“Me, indeed,” said the Prince, a wide, eerie grin spreading across their face.
“What are you doing here?” the Emperor demanded.
“I think you know,” said the Prince.
“I assure you, I do not,” spat the Emperor.
“I promise, you do. What did I tell you all those years ago?” asked the Prince, their horse coming even with the Emperor, who remained silent. “That I would grant you all your wishes, all your earthly desires, but that one day I would come for your, riding behind you on a pale white horse.” The Prince let the moment draw out as he watched the Emperor’s gaze fall to the white horse the Prince rode.
“It’s too soon,” said the Emperor, turning away.
“You’ve put me off before, old man,” spat the Prince. “I think I’ve been more than patient.” He watched the wheels moving in the Emperor’s head as he tried to think of another bargain that could be made. “You knew what you were signing up for, it’s time.”
“Just… just let me put my affairs in order. Please.”
The Prince inclined their head. “Three days. I’ll give you three days, Uriel. Then… you are mine.”
