And so, for another season, Inktober comes to an end. Did you stick around for the entire thing? What did you think? I felt no inspiration by the first handful of words, but then I started to see a bit of an in for a story I’ve always wanted to tell. It had come to me a handful of years ago, trying to deal with the loving of the Wizarding World without supporting J.K. Rowling.
In this reimagined fever-dream of Harry Potter and the Wizarding World, it focuses on all of it being real. J.K. Rowling, then Joanne, born to a non-magical family, got invited to Hogwarts, only to discover half-a-school-year later that she had no magical abilities what-so-ever. A clerical error had been made, a misjudgment, something. In order to preserve the secrecy of the wizarding community, a memory charm is placed on Joanne, causing her to forget everything she had seen for the past six months. Over the years, the spell begins to fade, however, resulting in her beginning to remember. Many view her as a troubled youth, until one day she publishes Harry Potter.
The third book in the series is what finally gets the Ministry of Magic’s attention. They initially assume it will blow over, how popular could it be? I plan to expand on the story, following Cirice Forge in running Hogwarts, and contending with the flock of fans that soon ensconce Hogwarts. I don’t know when I’ll get to it, but hopefully you’ll check it out when I do!
