Her heart felt heavy. Her feet felt heavy, her boots thudding along on the cement sidewalk with a foreboding thump. Her head felt heavy, like her neck might give-way from the weight. Her eyelids were heavy, feeling as though they were rubbing back and forth across sandpaper, staying shut a second longer than the blink before.
She felt heavy.
She found she felt weary, wearier than she could remember feeling in a long, long time. What had changed? She suppose she had.
There was a strange sensation nibbling at her. Like there were eyes upon her. Even though she was traversing down a crowded street, it felt more than just the normal passing glance. It made her skin tingle in an unpleasant manner and finally, she pulled her gaze up from the sidewalk stretching before her. It did not take long for her gaze to settle upon the culprit.
There, on the back of the person walking in front of her, was a cat. In a backpack. The orange cat’s nose wrinkled in a meow, it’s green eyes scrunching slightly. And despite everything, the heaviness of how she was feeling, she couldn’t help but smile at the cat.
