Parents: Unknown to her at this time. However, when she was a child in the orphanage, the Argonian couple, Talen-Jei and Keerava, had shown great interest in adopting her. However, Grelod, the propietor of the orphanage, rarely actually allowed any of the children in her charge to be adopted. She would get less government funding, after all. They were also turned down for the adoption, given they are Argonians. However, Adelais grows up regarding them as her parents, as they spend as much time with her as they can. When Adelais is finally of legal age to be named an adult, she chooses her new family name, being she never had one as an orphan. Personality
Five words to describe her: Romantic, Dreamer, Naïve, Determined, Needy
What does she hate most: That she finds herself always yearning for the acceptance and approval of others.
What does she fear most: Never finding out where she came from.
What does she love most: The idea of a family, a thing of which Adelais has never known.
What is the one thing she wants most of all? And what is she willing to do, or sacrifice, to obtain it? She desires two things more than anything in the world: a family of her own, and something to call her own. Whether it be a home, a profession, something, anything that she can call her own and never have it taken from her.
What is something that will instantly irritate her or send her into a rage? She gets most irritated by broken promises. When something she presents as her problem becomes twisted and construed as the other person’s problem.
What is something that can cure that rage, quickly or otherwise? Acknowledging that they are wrong is the only thing that will bring her around to speaking to them again.
Does she have any notable quirks, ticks, or habits? Despite nearly having her own future ruined by gossip, Adelais loves to trade gossip.
What is the most difficult thing she has ever had to do ? When she was a child, when she would have to return to the orphanage. Talen-Jei and Keerava were allowed to “rent” Adelais some weekends from the orphanage, of course for a hefty, on-the-side, fee to Grelod’s pockets. Adelais would revere her time away from the orphanage, but returning was always difficult and would take her days to recover. The same could be said of once she and Ingun Black-Briar became friends. She would stay for days at a time at Black-Briar Manor, until Maven would tire of her and insist she go back before Grelod attempted to charge her the adsorbent adoption fee.
What is the best moment of her life so far? Meeting Alistair Stormcloak.
What is the worst moment of her life so far? Realizing that Talen-Jei and Keerava would not be allowed to adopt her.
Is she an honest woman? She tries to be, but if a lie suits her goals, Adelais will grasp it.
Is she an honorable woman? In most ways, yes.
Is she a brave woman? In some ways.
Religion
What pantheon does she worship? She is a devout follower of the Eight, though in her heart they are still the Nine.
Who are her patron deities? Mara and Talos. Mara, due to Adelais’ desire to belong to a family; and Talos, because he made something of himself, a thing Adelais also desires to do.
What role, if any, have they played in her life or upbringing? They bring her some comfort.
What are her views on other Aedra or Daedra? She is indifferent to what others believe, as long as they leave her alone with what she believes.
Do they view any places as sacred? Temples and shrines.
How do they view other pantheons’ deities and sacred places? Similar to her view on other Aedra and Daedra, as long as their followers leave her to believe what she wishes in peace, she shall do the same.
Social
How does she feel about the government? She is aware of the corruption at play, especially in Riften. She sees how Maven Black-Briar, not even the Jarl of Riften, has everything and everyone in her pocket. She sees how the local government looks down on those that are different, like Argonians. How they are viewed as unworthy of adopting Nordic children such as herself. She became quite angry in her teenaged-years when she realized that Talen-Jei and Keerava could have been allowed to adopt her at a single word from Maven Black-Briar, the grandmother of her own best friend.
How does she feel about people in charge? Such as the Emperor, the High Queen, Jarls, the Thalmor? She was once indifferent, truly believing they had the best interests of the people at heart. But upon witnessing the denial of her adoption, Adelais soon learns the truth. That those in charge only care about themselves.
How do current events, such as the murder of the reigning High King, the return of dragons, and so on, affect her and her family? The murder of High King Torygg has the most impact on Adelais, as the murder is carried out by her would-be father-in-law, Alistair’s father, Jarl Ulfric Stormcloak. Due to his father’s actions, it puts a major hurdle in Alistair’s life plans he wishes to make and act upon with Adelais.
Does she respect rules and laws and the order of things? Mostly, yes she does. Until they stand in her way.
How does she feel about those of another race? She loves experiencing and learning about the cultures of others. She sees the injustices served to the Argonians and Khajiit and is outraged by it.
Is she independent or more group oriented? Adelais has learned through her difficult childhood how to be independent.
Does she take orders well? Why or why not. Not particularly, primarily from a childhood of neglect and abuse at the hand of Grelod.
Can she put aside her own ideals and desires for the better interest of others? Adelais has a weakness for being selfish in her more adult life, being her childhood was filled with never being allowed to have the things she desired and wished for.
How does she feel about others in general? Does she view them as out to get her, or honestly trying to help, or does she feel they are out to get her? Adelais has a bit of a naïve heart when it comes to how she views adulthood. She believes simply because she is now legally an adult and no longer under the care of Grelod at the orphanage, that she will always get her way and be allowed to do as she wishes.
Is she a helpful person, or is she selfish, only caring about herself and her own gain? Adelais loves to help others. But on the other side of that same coin, she has learned to be selfish in her adult life.
Do they view animals as better companions than people? Or are they merely servants/food/things? Adelais has always been drawn to animals, particularly the serene nature of horses. She treats all animals as beloved pets.
If she is a hunter, does she honor the animal she slays? N/A.
What does she think of each of the other race? Could she ever cooperate with them? Adelais is very accepting of most other races; actually finding Nords as the one she looks down upon the most, due to their small-mindedness.
What person or group does she pledge her allegiance to? The only ones who have ever pledged their allegiance to her were Talen-Jei and Keerava. So she, in turn, treats them as her family.
Talents/Education
Did she receive any special schooling anywhere? She was eventually brought into classes alongside Ingun Black-Briar at the expense of Maven Black-Briar.
Did, or does, she have any favorite teachers or mentors? She has always chalked everything she knows of horses to having learned from her friend, Shadr Fahar..
Does she have any magical talents? If yes: when did she first show signs, how did she discover it, and what did others think of it? She does not have a magical bone in her body.
What school of magic, if any, does she hold the strongest inclination towards? None, as she cannot do magic. However, she loves to witness healing magic.
Does she hold a desire for knowledge? She is always yearning to educate herself, so she can exist better on her own. Adelais has a desire to never need anyone ever again.
How does she feel about books? Does she have a favorite? She loves books, they were some of her only comforts as a child. They were a way for her to escape the cruelty of her every day life.
What subject, skill, or topic does her expertise lie in? Adelais has always had an affinity for horses.
Is she a good rider? Who taught her? She is a brilliant rider, having been taught by some of the Black-Briar’s own Stable Masters.
Violence/Fighting/Combat
Is combat an art, a necessity, or a skill? She finds violence deplorable.
Can it be taught or is one simply born with it? Anything can be taught, in Adelais’ mind.
What are her views on killing: is it every acceptable or always avoidable? Never.
Has she ever killed before? If so, who was it and how/why did it happen? She has never killed, and she is firm that nor will she ever.
Is she easily angered? If so, is she easily calmed? Adelais does get angry, but she has learned to bottle it up, deep inside, because Grelod would use it as a weapon against her as a child.
Is she vindictive? No.

Is pillaging acceptable? No.
Is stealing acceptable? No.
Is poisoning acceptable? No.
If an opponent were to yield, would she accept it? If yes, even one from a dishonorable opponent? N/A
Would she kill an innocent? If not, would she do so if a higher power were to command her to do so? Never.
