This is one of the big milestones… POST 100!!!! I figured in order to honor that, it had to be a good one. And what better way to achieve that then by picking one of my favorite topics – versus trying to play favorites out of one of my series, or trying to write something else, when all I want to write are my series – and with my favorite topic, why not one of my favorite sets?? And this one will always hold a special place in my heart, as it was my first Modular set. And it did exactly what I thought it would do… it opened the door to me becoming obsessed with the modular sets.

The things that drew me to this set and made it a must-have was the fact that it was a book shop – a no brainer – and the turquoise row house next door. I adore the charm of bookshops, as well as row houses. When I put this set together, I quickly learned that my favorite thing about Modular sets was seeing what sort of “ordinary” Lego pieces they would use to create traditional architectural elements.

I just love everything about it. The colors are stunning. The sidewalk amazed me – it was my first time building a Modular sidewalk, and I appreciated how ingenious they are! I loved that the two minifigs I have in front of the turquoise house remind me of my mom and dad. And I love the little story the two minifigs at the bookshop tell with so little effort.

But let’s get started!

Come on in!

The main level is a small, cozy space. A dining area, with a window seat and fireplace, as well as a beautiful cabinet, plant, and hat rack on the wall. The door immediately facing the front door is the door to the steps to the basement. The blue door at the back of the room is the back door that leads down to the back garden.

The basement is not a creepy little murder basement, at all. But based on the size of that mousetrap… I do not want to see the rodents that live down here.

The bedroom on the second level is cramped, but cozy, dominated by a gorgeously ornate bed. There is also a skylight in the stairwell, as well as a balcony to enjoy your morning coffee on. Even though a small space, the amount of light truly opens it up.

Let’s head over next door now to Birch Books! I absolutely love the arched windows and front door, especially with the little, green transom windows. Not to mention the custom, in-lay work on the sidewalk out front!

Birch Books does not boast a lot of space, but the utilize every bit they have. The cash register is tucked away beneath the stairs. And every where you go books are crammed in, even on the mezzanine level! The pattern of the flooring on the main level is absolutely mesmerizing from a high-vantage point.

Above the books is the owner’s private living quarters. They boast some beautifully arched front windows, a big comfy chair, a grandfather clock, and, of course, a balcony to enjoy a snack or morning tea on! The spiraled green staircase in Birch Books, and it’s owner’s apartment, are some of my favorite stairs.

The top floor is just a small, cozy sleeping space, complete with an incognito roomie. The big grouping of windows on the front wash the room in bright light, so you can see that chameleon trying to blend in with the bedding 😉

This also featured a cute little story book, the great classic, Moby Brick.

The other residents currently on Modular Lane look forward to showing off their spaces! Hopefully you’re looking forward to the next Wiggly Tour!
