Sister Imperator had stopped by once again for one of her favorite, impromptu lunches. She had unfortunately arrived just as Copia’s assistant was exiting his office, looking flustered, as his mother said. Originally, she had started on him about how he was not to treat this office and the establishment as his own personal, joyful playground, as his brothers – and even father, but she would never admit to that – had. Copia had sat, quietly rubbing his temples as he listened to his mother’s unwarranted lecture.
Yes, the two of them had shared a moment. Their hands had touched. They both imagined what else they may like to do, at least so he imagined. But when she had smiled at him, in that way, Copia had decided he wasn’t going to be like the other men in his family. And he had turned her away, even as he wondered what it might be like to kiss her.
“Are you even listening to me?” Sister demanded. “If she is that much of a distraction for you, I will have her removed.”
